Oral or Class Participation :The first goal learning a language is to be
Class work able to communicate as soon as possible:
therefore the student will get oral
participation points by asking and
answering questions in French or by
telling in a few sentences what he/she
read.
Written class work when collected will be graded.
Conduct
The highest level of conduct is expected. No student will be allowed to disrupt the learning environment. All school rules published in the Parent-Student-Handbook will be enforced.
• If you have a question or comment, raise your hand.
• Absolutely no eating, drinking (not even water) or chewing gum will be
allowed in the classroom.
• Students will be dismissed by the teacher, not the school bell.
This classroom environment is based on respect. I will always respect you as students and you, in turn, must treat others with respect. Anything less will not be tolerated.
Cheating
All work must be ORIGINAL. Do not copy someone else’s work. Do not let anyone else copy your work, either. (see about Plagiarism in Parent-Student Handbook)
Make-up work
If a student does not turn in an assignment on time for any reason other than illness, it will not be accepted. If a student is absent for one day, he/she will have two days after his/her return to complete the missed assignment.
The only way to make up the “oral points” is to find any opportunity to speak to me or to the other students in French. As long as the student makes the effort to use French sentences that he/she learned he/she will always be able to make up the missing points due to excused absences.
If the absence is known in advance (due to athletic event, field trip and other) the student has to inquire before leaving about class assignments and homework in order to turn in homework and receive class work and homework assignment.
A NOTE TO THE PARENTS
If your son or daughter is having trouble understanding a concept, it is important that he/she meet with the teacher or get outside help immediately.
They should not wait until a week before the final exam and expect the teacher to be able to help them to understand 5 or 6 concepts in one sitting.
See my website for homework it will be updated every week.
You will also be able to access your child’s grades on ABI. Expect them to be updated every 2 weeks.
Grades will not be rounded, what you see in ABI will be on your child’s transcript.
I will be available after school or before school for tutoring and also by appointments.
