BIENVENUS CHERS ETUDIANTS !

EXPECTATIONS
1. I will come to class prepared to learn with a positive and respectful
attitude.
2. I will bring the appropriate materials with me to class: binder, books,
pen, pencils etc…
3. I will respect my classroom by keeping it clean and unmarked.
4. I will not eat, drink (not even water) nor chew gum in the classroom.
5. I will make every effort to successfully complete all assigned work.
6. I will always do my homework (whether given written or orally).
Homework reflects work done in class. It helps you understand the
material seen previously.
7. I will take notes during class (each time the teacher writes or explains
something new).
ATTENDANCE
1. Attendance is extremely important.
2. No late work or homework is accepted. (exceptions: excused absence)
Missed tests can be made up before or after class – not during class time
When you miss class (because of illness) it is your responsibility to
come and ask what you have to make up. ( You miss one class, you have
one day to make up, you miss two days, you have two days etc…)
If you miss class and you know it in advance (field trip – sport event and
other) you have to inquire before you leave class about your homework
or any other work. I will not accept late homework or any other late work
for those who are on campus, but miss class for school events.
3. Be prompt to class. No tardies. The student has to be seated in his/her
seat when the bell rings. The student can only be dismissed by the
teacher and not the bell.
Remember absences or tardies may give you a failing grade.
CHEATNG
All work must be ORIGINAL. Do not copy someone else’s work. Do not let anyone else copy your work, either. (see about Plagiarism in Parent-Student Handbook)
The first time caught cheating, the student will receive a “0” on that particular assignment. Upon the second infraction the student will receive a grade of “F” in the course. Remember that in college cheaters are permanently expelled. It’s better to form good study habits now.
GRADES
1. Grades will be determined by your performance on tests – quizzes -
classwork – homework – projects - speaking ability (oral).
2. Late homework will not receive points. (exception: excused absence)
No sloppy homework will be accepted. More than 3 missing homework, student
will stay after school to make up the missing homework. (No credit will be
given)
3. There is no extra credit in this class. Do the work that is assigned to you.
4. Quizzes are not announced.
5. Tests and projects will be announced at least 15 days in advance.
6. Grading policy:
Test and projects 25%
Quizzes 20%
Homework + binder 15% ( 4pts. per assignment –
2pts.for half) binder on 25pts.
Oral (participation) – class work 15%
Final exam 25%
ORAL or class participation
The first goal while learning a language is to be able to communicate as soon as possible; therefore oral participation points are given. If the student is missing points for the oral (due to absences) the only way to make it up is to find any opportunity to speak to me or to the other students in French.
As long as the student make the effort to use French sentences that he learned he will always be able to make up the missing points due to excused absences.
A NOTE TO THE PARENTS
If your son or daughter is having trouble understanding a concept, it is important that he/she meet with the teacher or get outside help immediately.
They should not wait until a week before the final exam and expect the teacher to be able to help them to understand 5 or 6 concepts in one sitting.
See my website for homework it will be updated every week. www.stmonicahs.net/~tsemnani
You will also be able to access your child’s grades on ABI. Expect them to be updated every 2 weeks.
Grades will not be rounded, what you see in ABI will be on your child’s transcript.
I will be available after school or before school for tutoring and also by
appointments.
I am looking forward to work with you during this school year. If you have any questions or would like to schedule a conference please contact me: Telephone: (310) 394 37 01
