If you have not done so already, please navigate over to the College Board website for AP European History, register, and take sample exams, etc. for the class.

Here are copies of the summer assignments. If you need clarification send me an e-mail.
- Essay - Part I / Part II : If you have already written your essay (14-15 pages, at least 5 sources) then you just need to hand it in. If you haven't started or you are confused then you may do the following.
You still need to use a TOTAL of 5 sources for all three essays (not 5 for each essay) from sources other than your textbook. (Due first day of class)
- Write three (3) 5 page papers answering each of the following questions (these roughly correspond to the AP outline).
- 1)Early encounters between American Indians and European colonists led to a variety of relationships among the different cultures. Analyze how the actions taken by BOTH American Indians and European colonists shaped those relationships in TWO of the following regions. Confine your answer to the 1600s.
New England
Chesapeake
Spanish Southwest
New York and New France - 2)The geographical conditions of all three major areas of of English settlement in America --New England, the Middle Colonies, and the South --account for the differences in the colonial way of life in these three areas. Assess the validity of this statement (to what extent is this or is this not a TRUE statement)
- 3)In some detail trace the rise and fall of the Federalist Party from its emergence during the debates over the ratification of the Constitution to its decline during the War of 1812 at the Hartford Convention.

Students taking AP US History for the 2009-2010 academic year will be expected to complete ALL work assigned before summer break.
