EXCEPTIONS TO REGULAR LIBRARY SCHEDULE:

Due to our monthly faculty meetings, the library will open late (approximately 8:30 a.m.) one Friday each month, as follows:

RESOURCES

The Trepp Library offers access to:
·       circulating and non-circulating materials including approximately 8,000 books and 40 periodicals - All current students of St. Monica Catholic High School have borrowing privileges for circulating materials with the use of their student I.D. card;
·       an extensive collection of college admission books, as well as SAT and ACT preparation materials.  
·       thirty  (30) computers with software applications including Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Photoshop, Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing, and a variety of educational software.  The computers also provide access to the Library’s automated catalog, the internet, and several online subscription databases (described below).  The library computers are to be used only for academics; students must have a signed Computer Network User Agreement and Parent Permission Form on file and present their current student I.D. card in order to use a computer.  Both standard and color printing are available.
·       Xerox photocopying.  
·       Scanner

The library’s online subscription databases allow students to review and download hundreds of scholarly journals and historical newspapers.  These online resources can also be accessed by students on their home computers via the remote access passwords available in the library and on the Resources page of ABI.  
·       eLibrary - More than 1,500 full-text sources, with improved functionality, and a fun and easy-to-use search interface. Includes magazines, newspapers, books, television/radio transcripts, maps, pictures, and audio/video clips.
·       Oxford Reference Online - Oxford Reference online: Premium Collection combines rich and scholarly resources with authoritative, quick-reference coverage of the full subject spectrum. It also offers excellent functionality, and a wide range of additional material such as maps, illustrations, and timelines.  Over 130 subject dictionaries, plus the World Encyclopedia, offer unrivalled coverage of everything from art to accountancy, politics to physics, and computing to classics.  The very best in quick-reference information plus authoritative in-depth articles, English dictionaries, and bilingual dictionaries of French, German, Spanish, and Italian.  Over 900,000 entries across 25 subjects, including an expanding range of Oxford Companions, and the Oxford Dictionary of Quotations.  More than 6,000 illustrations, plus 500 full-colour maps.  Key events in the 20th century linked to themed timelines.  Updated regularly with new books and new editions.  

LIBRARY  USE GUIDELINES

The Trepp Library is to be used for academic pursuits.  Please help us to preserve this facility as a place of quiet learning for all of our students by following these few simple rules:  

        Ø       NO food or beverages                            Ø       NO gum
        Ø       NO cell phones                                  Ø       No excessive noise
        Ø       NO horseplay                                    Ø       Uniform policies must be adhered to during school hours

Failure to comply with these regulations will result in the issuance of demerits or detentions (as appropriate) and/or being asked to leave the library.  

BOOK CHECK-OUT:  
·       All current students of St. Monica Catholic High School have borrowing privileges for circulating materials with the use of their student I.D. card.  
·       Materials checked out must be returned to the library within fourteen (14) days.  
·       Checked-out materials may be renewed on or before the due date in person, by phone, or via email, provided the material to be renewed has not been requested by another user.  
·       Fines for materials not returned or renewed by their due date will accrue at the rate of $.25/day per item; the student will lose borrowing privileges until all late fees have been paid.  
·       If a request for renewal was denied and the checked-out materials were not promptly returned, the late fee will accrue on these materials at the rate of $.40/day per item.
·       All late fees MUST be paid in full before students will be allowed to take final exams.

COMPUTER USE:
·       Students’ signed Computer Network User Agreement and Parent Permission Forms MUST be on file before students will be allowed to use a computer.  ALL of the guidelines contained therein MUST be followed at all times.  
·       A student wishing to use a computer MUST give his/her current student ID card to the librarian before using any computer.  He/she will then be ASSIGNED to a computer, given a numbered card corresponding to that computer, and logged in by the       librarian.  At NO time will a student be allowed to sit at a computer without presenting an ID card.  ONLY the student who has logged-in may use the computer; students may NOT double up at a computer.
·       When a student has completed his/her computer work, he/she MUST return the computer card to the librarian, who will then return the student’s ID card to the student and log the student out.  
·       Students may ONLY use the computer to which they are assigned; students will be responsible for ALL computer activity on that computer until they are logged-out by the library staff.    

PRINTERS:
·       ONLY library staff may remove and distribute printed material from the printers – students are NOT permitted to remove any papers from the printers at any time.
·       Assignments printed in the library will ONLY be released to those students whose name actually appears on the assignment.  
·       Students may print up to twenty (20) standard (black ink) pages per month at no cost.  Any pages in excess of this amount will be billed to the student at $.10/page.
·       To obtain color prints, students must save what is to be printed to a disc and have the library staff print it from the librarian’s computer.  Color prints will be billed to the student at $.25/page.  
·       Printing expenses will be billed to students at the end of each month.  All fees are due and payable within five (5) days.  No printing will be permitted by a student who is delinquent for printing fees from a prior billing period.

COMPUTER MEMORY:
·       Students cannot save their work to library computers.   Accordingly, students are strongly encouraged to carry a flash drive with them for their purpose.  A variety of flash drives and floppy discs are available for purchase in the library.  

PHOTOCOPYING:
·       Photocopies are $.15 each.  The copier accepts coins and paper money.  Photocopies MUST be paid for at the time of copying - NO EXCEPTIONS.  The library staff will not advance funds for photocopying.
